Digital Scrapbooking – Digital Memories
Original scrapbooks were made from – you guessed it – scraps. Well‚ technology has changed all of that‚ and now scrapbooking is a hobby in its own right. So you can take an “old school” approach to scrapbooking‚ or you can go digital and scrapbook in the age of the Internet.
Digital scrapbooking has not really changed scrapbooking all that much. It just makes many things quicker and easier to do. You can print photos on a whim‚ and you can design your own graphic borders and page patterns. The beauty of digital scrapbooking is that you may find yourself more inclined to scrapbook if it is not such an insurmountable chore.
Digital Scrapbooking – A New Way to Do an Old‚ Treasured Hobby
Just like the very first scrapbooks‚ the digital versions still showcase your favorite photos and chronicle your important memories. Now though‚ instead of having to take the photo‚ wait until you take the whole roll of film‚ take the film to be developed‚ pick up the prints and hope that you get a good one‚ you can simply snap a picture and print it out immediately. Photos can be scanned‚ cropped‚ re–colored and shared at a moment’s notice.
There are many scrapbookers who like to mix the old and the new‚ so they use digital technology and mix it with found treasures. Mixing the two approaches to scrapbooking really does offer the widest opportunity for creativity in that you can get the exact image that you want‚ and then you can add unique and one of a kind embellishments to the page or adorn the page with beautiful calligraphy.
Scrapbooking is so popular that there are any number of software packages available that lend themselves specifically to scrapbooking. Photoshop is probably the most popular one‚ but there are many others as well. While learning the finer points of these software packages may take a little time‚ you can become proficient in the basics in no time at all.
If you want to update a photo and change its size or resolution‚ then one of the photo editing software packages is just what you need. You can use these software packages to update pretty much any type of picture or graphic.
A scrapbook design can be literal or imaginary‚ and anything in between. So being able to manipulate your photos and pictures is very useful when you are creating a certain look for your album. You can zoom in for dramatic effect‚ or you can soften colors for an antique look. You may choose to do everything in clack and white‚ and with the push of a button all of your photos are converted.
With digital design you can build your images in your computer or even snap a photo and then print them for your scrapbook. You can also draw your design and scan it into your computer to manipulate it further. So you can use your computer to further process you embellishments for your scrapbooking pages.
If you want to develop a true digital scrapbook‚ then it will reside on a CD. While you lose some of the tactile qualities of the original scrapbooks‚ you gain the ability to add video and sound to a digital version. Think of recording baby’s first word or step‚ and you have them preserved forever‚ digitally. A digital scrapbook is a great partner for your “old school” scrapbook‚ and it can be stored in a flap in the back cover. The sky is wide open when you are scrapbooking‚ so have fun!
