Whenever you decide to begin a new scrapbook‚ you have the choice of picking any theme in the world. There are literally no limitations to the scope of your project other than your very own imagination.

At the very least you may pick a theme for your entire album like a baby book. This scrapbook would be filled with your baby’s mementos including birth announcements‚ photos‚ first lock of hair‚ hospital bracelet‚ first tooth‚ and maybe even a picture of the ultrasound. Then as your baby moves into childhood‚ a button from their favorite sweater‚ or a photo of them leaving for summer camp with their favorite stuffed animal in tow will continue the album.
As a scrapbooker‚ you will see every event as a reason to create an album. Whether it is to remember a fantastic vacation‚ or chronicle the first year away at college‚ or even to welcome a new pet into your home‚ everything that happens every day has a story to tell and what better way to tell it than through scrapbooking? By collecting trinkets on your travels you will always have interesting things to add to your scrapbooking pages.
While an album may revolve around pretty much anything in the world‚ frequently choosing a single‚ important person to honor creates a lovely scrapbook. A favorite coach or teacher can inspire a tome of beautiful work. The crochet hook that your grandmother used to teach you the art of sewing may be enough to inspire an entire scrapbook in her honor. A dear friend who has passed away may be a perfect subject to fill the pages of your scrapbook as you remember a life well spent.
Instead of a single subject you may choose to have your scrapbook include your entire family and all of their extended members as you pay homage to your heritage. Of course you would want to include your crazy uncle and your siblings. You may have everyone write a short thought for your book much as you would sign a yearbook in high school. You can add a pocket page to hold a DVD or CD with recordings of your family singing‚ telling a story‚ or just talking for future generations to enjoy.
You can also make a scrapbook that reflects you‚ either figuratively or literally. Obviously you can add pictures and photos of yourself for a literal rendition of the book‚ or you can simply add a pressed flower that your first love gave to you. You can fill the happy pages with bright colors and the more somber pages with shades of grey. Pictures on each page can be embellished with special mementos like ticket stubs‚ airline stubs‚ a printed napkin‚ a matchbook‚ a pressed leaf or even ribbons and buttons. This album is filled with your memories and is special for you to enjoy.
Anything that happens in anyone’s life is ripe for scrapbooking. Personal accomplishments‚ great events and even dark tragedies all find a place in the scrapbook album.
