Scrapbooking Embellishments & Add–Ons

As you engage in scrapbooking‚ you will invariably build an arsenal of scrapbook supplies including paper‚ pens‚ trimmers and rulers. Then as you become more experienced‚ your scrapbooks will evolve from predominantly photo albums to more complicated ones with loads of interesting embellishments to make each page unique and interesting.

Once you pick a theme for your scrapbook you can start to decide which embellishments you want to use on your pages. Anything from ribbons to found treasures will work.

If you were to design a scrapbook around holidays‚ you may want to add a couple of pages for Halloween. Small plastic spiders and spider webs‚ or tiny pumpkins instantly add interest and dimension to the page. Or if you were to add a Christmas page some tiny ornaments or maybe a candy cane would set the tone.

There are tons of pre cut designs available to include in your book. You may want to add a quote that is already die–cut into a design. Sometimes you can find the perfect words for your page already printed.

Pretty much anything can be used to embellish a page. Ribbons and buttons add interest and texture. Ticket stubs from an event add a tangible memory. A napkin or matchbook from a restaurant may bring a flood of memories for a special evening.

Rub–ons are a lot of fun to work with. Little decals that you can use to bring your page to life these embellishments are with a simple rub. Chalks are another great way to enhance any scrapbooking page. With a chalking tool‚ you can add a splash of color to any page that is uniquely yours.

You can have a lot of fun with office and sewing supplies when you use them in new and innovative ways. A brass brad adds a fun element to any page‚ and it can be used to attach a photo or another page. Eyelets add a fun look to a page and come in all sizes and colors. Eyelets can be used to mount a photo‚ hold a metal or tie a ribbon. They also add a fun design element to the page.

Page protectors‚ either clear or colorful‚ are another way to add an unique look to a page‚ and if you add die cuts to the page protector you can develop an interesting pattern to your page.

You can use page protectors in virtually any album to add another element of dimension to the page. You can use the pocket to protect the page‚ or you can use it to make photo pockets. Either way‚ you end up with a page that has lots of interest.

Photo corners used to be the best way to mount a photo but they can also add a fun element to your page. You will be adding lots of photos to you scrapbook‚ so the look of each page is important. You have the option of making it whimsical or elegant or virtually anything else that you want to design.

So as you see miniature treasures that may work in a scrapbook‚ add them to your collection‚ and you will be glad that you have them the next time that you are designing a page in your book of art that defines your life.
